SNI Network
In addition to the Leading House Basel, which is involved in the project with various departments, the
partners in the network of the Swiss Nanoscience Institute (SNI) are:
NCCR Network
Argovia Netzwerk
Network partners in detail
Research teams of the SNI are partners in EU projects. Examples:
Frontiers
is a Network of Excellence which aims at establishing leadership in research and innovation on
behalf of life sciences related nanotechnology by creating structures that build on the existing
strengths and facilities of the network partners.
NCCR is a partner of the EU FP6 Network of Excellence FRONTIERS.

EuroSQIP stands for "European Superconducting Quantum Information Processor".
EuroSQIP is a 4-year Integrated Project starting 1 November 2005, with 14 partners and a budget of 6 MEuros.
Creating an Atomic Scale Technology is now a necessity for any uni-molecular device and machine in
molecular electronics, molecular mechanics, molecular transducers and for laboratory scale experiments
on one molecule. In the IST priority 2 of the FP6 (Emerging Nanoelectronics FET proactive initiative),
the Pico-Inside consortium will explore Atomic Scale Technology with the final goal of integrating a
complex logic gate inside a single molecule.

The aim of the ESF program "Nanotribology (NATRIBO)" is to improve the collaborations between
experimentalists and theoreticians in the field of tribology on the nanometer scale. During the
last years experimental and modelling tools have become available for the study of small contacts
under pressure in relative motion. NATRIBO is dedicated to scientists, who perform experiments with
nanocontacts. The understanding of friction, adhesion, fracture and wear on the nanometer scale is
the main issue.
