National Center of Competence in Research (NCCR) “Nanoscale Science”

The National Center of Competence in Research (NCCR) “Nanoscale Science” is organized into various bodies and committees with different tasks and functions.




NCCR Management

The NCCR Management Team is responsible for ensuring the successful management of the program. It represents the NCCR in dealing with outside contacts and supports all institutions and persons involved in the achievement of the program’s scientific objectives. The NCCR Management is made up of the Director of the Program Professor Christian Schönenberger, his deputy Professor Daniel Loss, the Director of Scientific Communication Professor Christoph Gerber, the Responsible for the Nanosciences Curriculum Professor Wolfgang Meier, the Honorary President Professor Hans-Joachim Güntherodt and the administrative Team Dr. Verónica Cerletti, Audrey Fischer and Dr. Tibor Gyalog.


NCCR Scientific Board

The Scientific Board of the NCCR supports the Management Team in a consultative capacity, stimulates interdisciplinary cooperation and reviews opportunities for the marketing of scientific findings. It fulfils a control function for the entire program and network. The Scientific Boards members within the NCCR are:

The role of the various project leaders within the NCCR is to stimulate discussion within the projects, to monitor scientific progress and ensure that the declared objective is being met. The project leaders within the NCCR are:

An International Advisory Board advises the NCCR Management with regard to the scientific focus and implementation of scientific projects. It draws attention to commercialization opportunities and provides a general quality control. Members of the Advisory Board are:
